Now Deadline reports Dakota Fanning will star in the period drama from writer/actres****a Thompson which chronicles the strange romance, or lack thereof, between Gray and Ruskin. Despite her beauty, Ruskin was said to be disgusted with Gray's body, did not consummate the marriage and annulled it, allowing her to marry Ruskin's protégé John Everett Millais.Though Orlando Bloom was once attached to play Millais, apparently Tom Sturridge (Pirate Radio) has stepped into the role. In addition, Thompson will also star in the film as Lady Eastlake, who takes Effie under her wing when it becomes clear the union was destroying the young woman. Her husbandGreg Wise (Johnny English) will play Ruskin while Julie Walters (Harry Potter franchise) and Derek Jacobi (The King's Speech) will play his parents. Finally, Edward Fox (Gandhi) is in talks to play Eastlake's husband Sir Charles a man who was not only fed up with Ruskin and his radical ideas, but also the main patron of the Royal Academy which held sway over what constituted fine art.Richard Laxton (An Englishman in New York) is directing the film which begins shooting in Scotland on October 17th with shooting to follow in London and Venice as well. The cast has been shuffled on this project for awhile with Carey Mulligan once attached to the title role as well, but a copyright infringement claim held up the film, which resulted in scheduling conflicts for the previously attached cast members. Producer Don Rosenfeld says, "It’****a Thompson’s first original script after doing several fine adaptations, and it gets to the heart of Victorian England." Though this sounds a bit more along the lines of her work on Sense and Sensibility as opposed to Nanny McPhee, her work on the page should make for a great British drama down the road.

When they next meet at a party, Bob and Mic deny that they have any feelings for one another - a declaration that soon leads to tragedy...Marcel Carné is widely regarded as one of the standard bearers of French quality cinema of the 1930s and 1940s, responsible for such masterpieces as Quai des brumes (1938) and Les Enfants du Paradis (1945). How ironic then that, in 1958, towards the end of his film-making career, he should make a film which dared to portray the attitudes and behaviour of the 1950s youth, in a way that effectively captures the mood and sentiment of the time.Les Tricheurs was a hugely controversial film, not least because of its blatant depiction of adolescent free-love, and was even banned in some regions of France. It also received some intensely unfavourable reviews, most notably from the young hotheads on the Cahiers du cinéma such as François Truffaut who cited this film as a prime example of the decline of French cinema into mediocrity. In spite of all this negative press, the film proved to be an astonishing commercial success, attracting five million cinema-goers, and was awarded the Grand Prix du Cinéma français in 1958.Whilst Les Tricheurs is not as flawless as Carné's earlier masterpieces, it is nonetheless a significant work, having the power to both shock and move its audience, whilst having great entertainment value. It evokes the mood of its time in a way that few French films of this period did, depicting young people as pleasure-seeking rebels, rejecting the austerity and discipline of the previous generation whilst pursuing a life without cares, responsibilities or love. Similarities with James Dean's films of the 1950s (most notably Rebel without a Cause) are apparent, although Carné's treatment of young people is far more abstract - in his film they merely symbolise a world that has lost its way, more or less victims of post-war prosperity. Although the young people in Les Tricheurs lack the authenticity to be totally credible, the film does make an important, and indeed quite disturbing point, about where the permissive society may be heading.Much of the pleasure of the film is in the performances from its four lead actors, Jacques Charrier, Pascale Petit, Laurent Terzieff and Andréa Parisy, although only Terzieff is really convincing in his role. Marcel Carné originally considered Alain Delon and Jean-Paul Belmondo for the parts of Bob and Alain respectively, before opting for Charrier and Terzieff. As a consolation, Carné offered Belmondo a smaller part in the film - alas too small for the actor to be noticed by the public. Belmondo's breakthrough had to wait until the following year when he starred in Jean-Luc Godard's revolutionary A bout de souffle, a film which offers a very different perspective of the youth generation.

简介：北陸××銀行直江津支店次長滝田恭助は、本店の業務部長に栄転することになった。彼の妻は頭取の娘で、このことも出世を早める原因らしかった。滝田の送別会で、一人離れて座っている男があった。中学時代に滝田と同級だった庶務係の中池だ。滝田の妻はもとはといえば中池の恋人だった。それを滝田が奪ってから彼の人生街道が開いたのだ－－。宴会の帰途、滝田の前に立った男がある。ヤクザの熊木だ。滝田が女を養うために印鑑を偽造、浮貸しをしている秘密を握っているのだ。三百万円よこせと脅迫した。そして、拳銃を渡して金庫破りをすすめた。ある夜、レインコートを着、ハンチングと黒いスカーフで顔を隠した滝田は、小使を縛って銀行へ押し入った。宿直の中池が帰って来た。滝田は拳銃をつきつけ、金庫の前に中池を引っ立てた。しかし、中池は滝田の正体を見破っていた。滝田は急に笑い出し、防犯週間だから銀行ギャングの予行演習を考えついたのだと言った。この場は何とかつくろったが、熊木が三百万円を待っている。二人は断崖の上でもみあい、足をすべらした熊木は悲鳴を残して落ちていった。翌日、滝田は中池に呼び止められた。中池は自分が熊木を使って脅迫させていたのだと言った。－－妻や子と任地へ向う滝田は汽車に乗っていた。しかし、隅の方の席には中池が座っていた。「これからあんたの行くところへはどこまでもついて行く。銀行はやめたよ」と滝田を見上げて言うのだった。

简介：若い後妻を持った勇造に気づかって、高村家の由紀、しずか、チエ子の三人姉妹は秘に伊丹空港から長姉早苗の嫁先へ家出を決行した。美しい三人の前には早くも、羽田空港でポルシェを運転する青年が近づいた。末娘の現代っ子チエ子につられて、三人は車で早苗の団地にやって来た。狭い団地生活に、早苗は仕方なく貯金を出して、三人のためにアパートを貸りてやった。由紀としずかはデパートに、チエ子は試験に落ちて姉に内緒でアルサロ勤めを始めた。だが、いたずらに飲んだお酒がバレて、即日やめさせられる始末だ。そんなある日、由紀は幼馴染の矢坂次郎に会った。次郎はＴＶニュースのカメラマンであった。お互いに成長した姿を見た二人は、胸のときめきを感じた。その日から次郎は、時々アパートを訪れて姉妹と親しくなった。ある日三人姉妹と次郎それにチエ子の友達の健吉らは、スキーに出かけたが途中次郎は取材で由紀たちと別れた。淋しい思いをしていた由紀の前に偶然ポルシェの男、野沢圭一が現われ、四人を別荘に招待した。三人が帰京した翌日、勇造が妻弘子と喧嘩をしてやって来た。激しくののしって追い帰した由紀に、しずかは怒りを感じて次郎のアパートに走った。とまどう次郎は、しずかを下宿に置くと取材に出ていった。心配して次郎に相談に来た由紀は、しずかを見て嫉妬を感じた。旅行から帰った次郎は由紀に愛情を告白した。だがそんな由紀の前に、圭一がしばしば現われるようになった。豪華な雰囲気をもつ圭一に、由紀は巨絶出来ないものを感じていた。しずかはそんな由紀の態度に怒りを覚えた。数日後、由紀は圭一と婚約した。次郎は、慰めるしずかに「由紀ちゃんの気持は解る」と話して、酒をあをった。由紀が新婚旅行に発つ日、旅立つ次郎の跡を追うしずかの美しい青春の姿があった。
